Company group
Auto Heinen – part of the Scherer group
With the takeover of the company by the Meinrad and Theodor Scherer brothers, Auto Heinen GmbH has been integrated into the successful Scherer Group. The group also includes Scherer GmbH based in Tramin (South Tyrol) and Lockweiler Plastik Werke GmbH in Wadern-Lockweiler (Saarland). Synthetic products are manufactured in both these works for the most diverse applications.
Tradition
Family is tradition
Auto Heinen has always been a family business. In 1933, the engineer Heinrich Heinen founded the cylinder grinding shop which was later renamed Auto Heinen. The expansion of the product range to include pressure diecast parts took place in 1969. From then on, developments from the House of Auto Heinen established themselves rapidly and continuously on the national and international markets.
Since 2010, Auto Heinen has once again been led with a familial background. Thus the original family tradition carries on.
Entrepreneurs
South Tyrol meets the Eifel
Both businessmen, Meinrad and Theodor Scherer come from South Tyrol and have been in business in Germany now for many years.
Meinrad Scherer
A time-served mechanical fitter and independent businessman since the age of 23. He is the principal shareholder in the companies Lockweiler Plastic Werke GmbH and Scherer GmbH.
Theodor Scherer

Development
Creativity, intelligence and cost-efficiency – those are our solutions
The basis of any technical innovation is an efficient development process. During early and close dialogue, we support our customers in the search for creative, high-quality engineered and market orientated solutions.
Our experienced staff see the customers through from the basic concept of a product, the prototyping, trialling and validation phases to production series implementation with a high level of problem solving competence and efficient project management.
The deployment of modern CAD systems (ProE, Catia V5, IDEAS) and calculation tools (Mold Flow Simulation, FEM calculation) guarantees our customers the greatest possible flexibility in "simultaneous engineering". Our development service is rounded off by comprehensive test bench equipment for the verification of customer specific requirement profiles.
Aluminium alloys
The alloy makes the difference – and we have the right chemistry
The requirement profiles of modern components and systems in aluminium are many and varied. To be able to cater ideally for the requirements of the customer, we currently have nine different alloys in our portfolio.
Our competence in materials and flexibility in the melting process guarantees maximum freedom for our customers in the selection of alloys. One aspect of our long years of expertise is the processing of special alloys for components with the highest level of wear and chemical corrosion resistance.
Aluminium-magnesium alloys
- AlMg3Mn (ADC 6): medium to large structural components without heat treatment, anodises well
- AlMg5Si2Mn (Magsimal 59): structural components with a wide range of wall thicknesses without heat treatment, high energy absorption capacity as well as good welding /riveting capability and corrosion resistance
- AlMg9 (EN AC-51200 /349): components with a high requirement for corrosion resistance to chemical substances
Aluminium-silicium alloys
- AlSi10Mg (EN AC-43400 /239): components with mechanical processing and chemical resistance requirements
- AlSi12 (EN AC-44300 /230): standard secondary alloy for thin-walled components with improved corrosion properties
- AlSi9Cu3 (EN AC-46000 /226): standard secondary alloy for thin-walled components
- AlSi12Cu1 (EN AC-47100 /231): standard secondary alloy for thin-walled components
- AlSi12CuNiMg (EN AC-48000 /260): wear resistant piston alloy with good dimensional stability (heat treatable)
- AlSi17Cu4Mg (A 390): piston and cylinder alloy with the highest wear resistance (heat treatable)
Pressure diecasting
Casting cells to take on any challenge
